Prepare for the Installation of Your New Floor
When you have the professionals from The Wood Floor Store LLC install your hardwood flooring, you get prompt service from a team with an eye for detail.
Before they arrive, we recommend going through this list of tips to ensure that everything works out smoothly.
- Plan to have the existing flooring removed. Please either let us know if our team will have to do it or arrange to have it done by the time our team is scheduled to arrive.
- Plan to have the furniture removed from the room. Be sure to remove all fragile items from the room. If our crew will need to remove the furniture, please let us know in advance.
- Measure door clearances before you have your new flooring installed. If the new flooring is thicker than the old flooring, your doors may rub or jam. Plan in advance to have someone shave or saw material off the bottom of each door.
- If you're planning to change the room, it's best to paint, wallpaper or remodel before you have your new hardwood floor installed. Keep extra paint on hand to touch up any nicks that may occur.
- As you plan the layout of your furniture, keep in mind that hardwood flooring should run parallel to any windows in the room or (in narrow rooms) parallel along the longest wall. The flooring is more stable if it runs perpendicular to the floor joists.

Let Us Take Care of the Complete Floor Installation Process
Once the installation begins, you can depend on our team to take the steps necessary to ensure that your floor looks good for years to come.
- During your free in-home estimate, we'll evaluate your current floor and subfloor construction to determine if the existing floor has to be removed, if we can install on top of it, and what leveling measures may need to be taken.
- We'll do moisture testing to ensure that your new flooring is properly acclimated to prevent cupping, buckling and gaps.
- We'll nail or glue the hardwood flooring in place by using multiple cartons to create consistency in the look of the floor.
Contact us if you have any questions. Our experienced sales and installation teams are ready to answer them.
